It
was a celebration of many things at the the VFR's Annual Fall Meet, held
on September 25. A celebration of 30 years of VFR dedication to the
hobby - and a celebration of the friendships and camaraderie that make
this hobby such a wonderful experience. The smiles and laughs were
as plentiful as the cars that day. Old-timers joked at each others
expense, and the new folks, some displaying their cars for the first time,
were welcomed with open arms. The beautiful 1941 Sedan owned by
long-time VFR member Marty Watkins, was selected as our dash plaque
car.
The showfield spanned seven decades of Cadillac and
LaSalle history - from Woody & Fran Rohrbach's flawless '31 to
George Haasis' beautiful '93. There were a few empty spaces on
the showfield - perhaps the overcast skies kept some of our members away -
well, it was their loss! Great cars from NJ, PA, NY
and MD lined the field, celebrating the VFR's 30th Anniversary in grand
style! Thanks to VINCE TALIANO,
Director of the Potomac Region, who attended - and the large contingent
from the Long Island Dreamboats, who made the trek!
The judges were kept busy evaluating close to 80 cars -
a task taken very seriously under the leadership of our Chief Judge,
Jack Hotz.
And no celebration is complete without CAKE!
Before the awards were presented, all participants were treated to
delicious dessert in honor of our 30th Anniversary. Awards were
presented by our Chief Judge, Jack, and assisted by VFR President Mike
Barruzza.
Thanks to ALL the volunteers who made
this year's Lahaska show a terrific event! Whether it was staffing
the registration table, tabulating votes, or selling merchandise, the
success of the show would not have been possible without your
extraordinary efforts!
