Marty Watkins was
officially installed as VFR President. Also installed were Woody
Rohrbach, Vice-President, Andy Jacoby, Secretary, and Joe Mosteller,
Treasurer. Awards were also presented to deserving recipients, with
distinguished service awards going to Dan Reed and Barbara Coleman, and
the John Fisher Memorial Goddess Award going to the VFR webmaster
extraordinaire, Pat Caruso. In addition, Mike Barruzza was presented a
plaque commemorating his years of service to the VFR as President.
During dinner, those attending were
surprised by a “pop quiz” by our resident teacher, Nancy Hotz. Nancy
handed out paper and pencils to everyone, then asked 15 questions,
all centered on popular culture during the ‘50’s and ‘60’s. Extra large
candy bars were handed out to those finishing with the highest scores.
All however, were kept “after class” to enjoy the rest of the days
festivities. Also handed out were door prizes, and the beautiful center
pieces, arranged by Andrea Jacoby, which adorned our tables.
Past CLC President and current CLCMRC
President Richard Sills and CLC Treasurer Larry Lesiger fresh from the
CLC Winter Board Meetings in Las Vegas, shared their thoughts in general
about the meetings and the status of the national club and the CLC
Museum progress. Their talks preceded one of the highlights of the day,
our annual brown bag auction. As in every year, everyone had fun
exchanging whatever was brought. The good, the bad, and the ugly! The
most popular item was a 1- ½ foot Gas Pump, which dispensed an adult
beverage other than gas!
Much credit and thanks go to Barbara
Coleman, who coordinated this event and did a SPECTACULAR job!
