The Inaugural

Corvette & Cadillac Dealer Show

at A.W. Golden!

Saturday, 9 May 2009

The Valley Forge Region show season was launched on Saturday, 9 May at the new show venue of A. W. Golden Chevrolet/Cadillac in Reading, PA. This was a ground-breaking event on several counts: it was the inaugural show at this dealership for starters. Add to that the fact that it marked the first joint venture with another marque in recent memory—and top that off with the fact that the two marques mixed and mingled on the show field. Put all that together and you get the automotive equivalent of a good Texas chili: it had plenty of interest, and more than a little bit of zing to get everyone’s interest and hold it consistently.

A total of 34 Cadillacs and LaSalles made the trip to Reading, covering a span from 1931 to the present day. While comparable statistics for the Corvettes aren’t immediately available, the prevailing sense is that the head count was approximately the same, with cars representing virtually the entire production period on hand. The 1950s-vintage facility was made to order for a display of automotive technology. The drop-in traffic was lively throughout the day, made up in no small part by residents of the area who were greatly appreciative of this first-time attraction. To make a long story short, the day was judged to be a rousing success in all regards. Participants couldn’t say enough good things about the convenience of attending and the reception provided by the dealership. The enthusiasm was returned in kind—sufficiently so that the Valley Forge Region has in hand an invitation for a return engagement in 2010!
