Our History
|
The Valley Forge Region of the
Cadillac & LaSalle Club was formed in January 1975 among
ten Cadillac enthusiasts. Lew
Howells was elected the region's first President. Since then, through the
leadership of past presidents Gary Anderson, George Cavanaugh, Jack Hotz, Don
Miller, Bill Edmunds, Toni Rothman, Rob Robison, Mike Barruzza and current President
Marty Watkins, the region has
blossomed into one of the largest and most active regions in the Cadillac & LaSalle Club.
Membership now totals over 260 Cadillac and LaSalle enthusiasts in Southeastern
Pennsylvania, Northern and Southern New Jersey and Delaware. The
region sponsors many events, including Cadillac dealership shows, auto
"runs" to local attractions, monthly meetings and an annual banquet
every January to keep those motors warm in the winter.

Why Are We Named The
Valley Forge Region?
|
Why was the name "Valley
Forge Region" chosen? Couldn't we have chosen "The
Philadelphia Region"? or perhaps "The Eastern Pennsylvania Region"?
Well, the answer lies in an introductory letter
written by CLC Member (and VFR's first president) Lewis Howells.
In January of 1975, Lewis sent a letter to Cadillac and LaSalle owners
in the PA and DE area, regarding the formation of a CLC region in the
Philadelphia area. From that letter...
"The region
will be called the VALLEY FORGE REGION
in memory of our country's founding father, George Washington, and where
he encamped his army in the winter of 1777-78, and fought for what he
believed in; let us all join together again and let the rest of the
country know that Valley Forge has not been forgotten." |
