THE CLC YOUTH PROGRAM IS IN FULL SWING!

At their June 2004 meeting, the Board of Directors of our National Club authorized the formation of the CLC Youth Program. In 2007, Hagerty Insurance Co., committed themselves to have a joint effort with car clubs to develop youth interest in the hobby.

This program is open to anyone ages 6 to 17, who is a child, grandchild, niece, nephew, etc. of an active CLC member. Each member will receive a newsletter twice a year, and a membership card as well as a birthday wish on their birthday. Along with our club, Hagerty will provide participants with official Youth Judging Gear including a t-shirt, hat, lanyard, and score card.

At every Grand National, Youth Program members will be able to attend driving and mechanical seminars, take rides in some of the cars, and possibly serve on special Youth Program judging team or be a runner for the judges on the field. Youth-friendly activities are available during all Grand Nationals gearing for families with children to come to such events and be encouraged to participate in these activities.

The Young Judges will be led by an adult guide to preselected vehicles where they will have the opportunity to ask car owners questions and learn fun facts about each vehicle. To conclude the program, the young judges will present trophies to their top three finishers at the Awards Ceremony.

Since this project is in its infancy, additional features will be incorporated to the program such as a website, submitting articles to appear in the newsletter, linking to other sites to access informative car data, and conducting contests for youth members.

In order for our Youth Program to succeed, it is important to the future of our hobby to harness the interest and enthusiasm of our children or grandchildren in this program. The child you sign up may be the one that carries on your love of Cadillacs into the future.

If you know or think your child (or grandchild, niece, nephew, etc.) would enjoy learning about the greatest cars ever made and having fun with like-minded children, fill out a membership form today!

If you have further questions or wish to be part of the Youth Program, please send an email to the Youth Program Committee Chairperson, Andrea Jacoby at chieftia67@aol.com
